My son has an extra wide foot that is very hard to find shoes for. The beautiful thing is that we ARE able to find shoes that fit him! Stride Rite sells extra wide shoes! I recently bought my son’s shoes instore because I wanted to talk with the sales lady in person to see which extra wide shoes are the widest. She told me that the Super Ball shoes are one of the widest shoes they offer and showed me a few options. They had a B1 Get 1 Half off sale going on. Ninety dollars later, we left with two pairs of extra wide shoes. Now if I had been savvy, I could have gone to Shoebuy.com and ordered the shoes there, but I really felt that her advise was worth buying the shoes at the store. And now we know which shoes are the widest for next time! So I am passing this along info if your child has an extra wide foot! My other son is a regular and I do get the joy of saving on his shoes! I was able to get him two pair of Munchkin’s (Stride Rite brand from Kohl’s) for a grand total of $15 (with a 30% off coupon) Reg $32 each pair . If you want Stride Right for less, I highly recommend them! Where do you get your child’s shoes?

  1. I just saw a link to that site somewhere else today; it must be a sign. LOL… one of my children has slightly wide feet and there are often a lot of styles that don’t work for her.

You may want to look for Stride Rite outlets. We have one near us. I’ve found shoes for $12.99 and up. Also found new balance makes a wide shoe and so does champion. But I still prefer Stride Rite for my daughter. They seem to fit best.

Sometimes Marshall’s carries wide shoes by Stride Rite, New Balance, and Jumping Jacks. I found them for $10-$15 on clearance.
My other solution is to find wide shoes at consignment sales. I’ve found some great deals on barely worn shoes. The shoe section is always my first stop at those sales because of my son’s wide feet.

Both my boys have WIDE feet. Our saving grace is a Stride Rite OUTLET. Check for one near you. The outlet usually carries last years “styles” but if you go into the regular store you will see they are the same with slight nuances. We have also had very good luck at a New Balance store (when there was no outlet available to us).

And as I sat here typing this I see that Wendi basically said the exact same thing. :-)

  5. My daughter is an XW as well. I had her fitted in store, but they didn’t have her size in what I wanted, so I ended up going to Shoes.com (I *heart* Shoebuy, too, but they didn’t have her size in stock). I do wish Stride Rite offered more girl styles in extra wide. Girls need a little more variety in their wardrobe!! :)

my kids don’t have wide feet, but i always buy their shoes at marshall’s. i had my daughter in stride rites every season until last year (she is 10 and wears a women’s size 4-5!! now), i have also bought her skechers, etc. i have gotten my son stride rites and brand name, high dollar tennis shoes at 50%++ from marshall’s. i never pay over $20 a pair, prefer under $15 and get that often, and they outgrow their shoes as opposed to out wearing them. more times than not, i am able to give their shoes away for another child!

We have a crocs outlet here! I have been able to get crocs for $4.99! Believe me, when they have that deal I buy all the sizes available and stock up for the next two years!!! We live in FL and they can get away with wearing crocs for most of the year. Winter time we splurge on shoes. Haven’t found good deals on tennies or boots yet, besides deals at Kohls or clearance somewhere.
